Locust commented on the post, Dave Ball RIP 14 hours, 5 minutes ago
One of the best bands in history, IMO, and he of course had a massive part in that. Although I confess I’m more emotionally invested in Marc Almond…today I’m sad, but when Marc goes I’ll cry.

As is true of most questions, the correct answer is the Taj Mahal classic “You Ain’t No Street Walker Mama, Honey But I Do Love The Way You Strut Your Stuff”. The live version, especially.

Jesus Came To My Birthday Party – The Middle East (great song too)

Also: what a lazy title…the use of the word fab should be banned for anything Beatle by now, IMO!

Locust commented on the post, Standing up or sitting down? 5 days, 13 hours ago
@Gatz, it depends on the band/artist of course, some I would go to see live again (and have). But I’m not an enthusiastic gig-goer anyway, I usually find the experience to be stressful, uncomfortable and often […]

Locust commented on the post, KITE ON ICE. AS DELICIOUS AS SUPPER'S READY? 5 days, 21 hours ago
Their most famous fan is of course the journalist Fredrik Strage, who rarely misses an opportunity to mention them and how many gigs of theirs he’s been to, and how many T-shirts he owns… 😀

Kite is cult…and known for their spectacular gigs. They don’t happen often, but instead they are unique and unforgettable – apparently (I’ve only listened to their records, never seen them live). They started […]

I’ve semi-retired from going to gigs, but when I do go I want to stand, even with that poxy knee of mine. Preferably at the front of the room – if I can see too much of the audience I tend to get self-conscious […]

Sorry Colin, I tried to order it, but once again it refused to work. I tried both through PayPal and with a credit card, but for some reason (it’s happened before when I’ve tried ordering from Bandcamp) it doesn’t […]

Locust commented on the post, MTV RIP 1 week, 2 days ago
I liked MTV a lot, but my absolute favourite program on it was the brilliant Daria (and to a lesser extent Beavis & Butthead). I have parts of Daria on DVD, sadly not all of it.

I enjoyed that – and the length was perfect, no risk of losing interest as so often happens when I try to watch long videos/podcasts; just a nice snack-sized conversation. Looking forward to part 2!

Sad news indeed. This is just gorgeous: And this is funky as hell: Too bad he wasn’t as prolific as Prince…but everything he did record was ace.

Holy moly…I’m glad I wasn’t having my dinner when I looked at picture no.2!! That was lucky having your neighbour there to help (cue annoying TV theme playing in my head now…) Best of luck with the recovery […]

Swedish 90s band Brainpool did this rather brilliant Beatles pastiche, which is also a dig at the music biz, called “Free Ride”… Do stick around for the long outro!

It still feels like September to me, it got cold for a few days, but lately it’s been mostly sunny and relatively warm again. The radiators turned on for a couple of days, but they’ve been turned off again. I’m […]

I have around 20 iPod Minis (I haven’t counted them) that I inherited from Carolina, late of this parish, and a few she gave me while she was still alive (with a docking station so I could use them). I’m very […]

Locust commented on the post, Suets you, Sir. One man's perfect pudding is another girl's bird-table favourite 3 weeks, 3 days ago
Strangely, Paltbröd is not a type of Palt, so the fact that two dishes with the word Palt in their names exists and both of them happen to have blood as one of their ingredients is quite interesting. If you […]

Having worked in food retail since I was 17 (first a butcher shop, then a tiny grocery store that gradually became bigger and now would be called a supermarket I guess), I’ve seen a lot of old favourite […]

Oh, they gave me lots of it too, I just chose to not take it after my operation day. I had other painkillers of a less grim variety that worked well enough for me. But I’m OK with pain, I’ve been in pain most days […]
