His Tiny Desk concert. A bit of a squeeze, but loads of fun. For fans of electric blue stage suits, eccentric kit – and David Byrne. That’s everybody, right?

Musings on the byways of popular culture
Magnificent!
(Not quite everybody, Mike…)
Definitely not…
You two have been banned forever from this site. Hand your IDs to that friendly guy at the desk and wander off into the cold, cold night .
There’s a lot that I like about David Byrne. But sometimes I find him really – really – irritating.
Definitely…
Me too. The best bit of the Talking Heads movie is when he goes off with his silly suit and Tina takes over.
Funnily enough, I don’t have a problem with Stop Making Sense. It’s got the strangeness – but it doesn’t have the archness that his recent performances display…
Fabulous. Enjoying the album a lot and can’t wait for the live show next year.
Thank you, couldn’t make it to Massey Hall so this is some small compensation
(hoping for festival dates here next year)
Yippee. Roskilde announced this week that he’ll be appearing there next summer.
This wonderful Tiny Desk is a real treat. I can’t wait to see that band play a full set.
It reminds me of the REI MOMO tour when he had a superb Latin orchestra.
His stagecraft is top notch these days…
I note that he’s letting them wear shoes these days…
Rather natty blue shoes at that.
You are quite right, @fitterstoke. Back in2020, f or Barefoot Byrne and his band, shoes were completely out of the question..

While I was Tinying my Desk, I came across this gem.
Oklou was a completely new name for me. This is how she normally sounds
I quite liked DB’s Tinydesk performance above, but faint praise is the best I can offer really.
“Quite Liked” is just not enough for me. The material seems a bit weak in comparison to TH’s glory days.
Those beaming showbiz-theatrical smiles of the dancer/singers were a bit irritating in the Tinydesk context, I thought. Maybe I’d have a different reaction to the full stage show, which I could not afford to go and see.
