I don’t go to gigs but, if I did, I think I’d rather not know what the band/artist was going to play next. It would ruin the surprise.

Thanks for the link. But I’m sticking to my guns. As an album it’s a great single.

Any sane person who would be asked to compile a comprehensive greatest hits package for the Stones would surely include Angie? It may not be their best single but…come on…

Mmm. Angie. And not much else.

Seems to me that Stones albums before Beggars Banquet (and after Exile) had one or two good tracks- sometimes great ones- but that the overall sets were a general disappointment.

Not their best but then they were in turmoil following Taylor’s departure and the fact that preceding sets like Sticky Fingers and Exile in particular had been so strong. Having said that I always loved Melody- […]

I got into them somewhat retrospectively on the cusp of punk whilst at school. I investigated all their albums from their first (which is one of my favourites because it’s just so…well…weird) and loved them […]

I suppose Macca is an obvious one. He’s my all time hero, but he insists on singing all his hits in the original key (presumably because he’s very familiar with the bass fingerings) and the end result is brutal. […]

Reading the track list I’m simply dumbfounded that some bright spark in the Atlantic A&R department at the time thought there were actual singles here…

Indeed, I always respected The Jam and Weller’s songwriting and never found them remotely funny in any conceivable way. The (arguably)more mature recordings of the Style Council were also similarly po-faced and […]

Always having preferred the Style Council to his previous be-suited and chewing gum chomping outfit I do feel a bit like Alan Partridge sometimes.

Very few completely awful albums with absolutely no redeeming qualities have been forced upon the record buying public. This is one.

The original piano version of The Paris Match is superb but this was previously issued on CD on the 5 box set The Complete Adventures of the Style Council which I bought about a decade ago. Turns out it wasn’t […]
