Sad to hear of the death of guitarist Manuel Gottsching. A founder member of Ash Ra Temple with Klaus Schulze in the early 70s, he then went solo under the name of Ashra, releasing the excellent New Age of Earth. He continued to release albums, more laterally under his own name. He will be best known for his E2-E4 album (recorded 81 but not released until 84). A 60 minute piece for guitar and keyboards/synths which suddenly hit the zeitgeist in the late 80s early 90s when it was discovered by the techno dance crowd. He was 70.
