No cases being treated and no new cases from testing in over 20 days. We can now have up to 30 people at our homes for Christmas and we don’t have to wear masks outdoors – especially appreciated for a Melbourne summer.

That’s great news. We emerge from 6 weeks in lockdown here in Ireland next week. We are truly hopeful that travel between counties will be allowed so we can meet with family. We’re in Kildare and my brother and his lot are in Co Cork. Fingers crossed.
One would hope that once this is all over we might remember how simple our needs really are.

I think that would be the best possible legacy of the pandemic – a humble levelling of expectations and aspirations in the cold light of reality.
