CD (22nd July) + vinlys (15th July)
“While looking for the (still ‘lost in the archives’) multi-track tapes to enable Steven Wilson to undertake new stereo and 5.1 surround mixes of the album, the original half-inch master tapes were discovered and used as the source from which engineer John Dent has prepared this 2016 ‘original master edition’.”
45 quid for English Settlement…ouch! Normally the xtc reissues are very reasonably priced. I think I’d rather wait for them to find the tapes and Stephen Wilson can do his stuff for a nice CD reissue
The original 45rpm polarity corrected Skylarking issue now goes for about £200 if you can find someone to part with one and is one of the best pressings I have of any album.
I’m not sure if Andy has the rights to release digital or CD versions of the albums or whether it has to be renegotiated as in the case with the SW 5.1 Cd n DVD\\Blu Ray sets. Then again a standalone polarity Skylarking appeared for v cheap chips
Yes, and the remastered English Settlement CD is similarly £7.50.
Skylarking repress is also due on July 15th, for only £45. I have a hi-res rip of the MFSL, how does that compare?
The original album was very fondle-able. Lovely embossed sleeve, nice crinkly texture.
…mmmmmm….
Thread idea, mayhap? The one I could never keep my hands off was Eden by Everything But The Girl..
Thread killer: that Durutti Column album in the sandpaper sleeve.
