Belle & Sebastian have released a Scotland World Cup song and, to be fair, it’s heavier on Stu’s flat cap than adrenaline-pumping highlights. The recent magical night against Denmark looms larger than past delights provided by wee Gordon, Archie or David Narey – although those Wembley posts must come down once more.
As stirring as the chorus is, it just has to finish with the line “We’re playing Morocco in the heat”.
But is it any good, Afterworders?

Don’t normally like football songs but that one is a cracker. And no I’m not Scottish.
Blimey, no, @Bejesus, it isn’t, it is ghastly!!! Sentimental twaddle with a side order of shite, that makes the entire earlier output of B&S seem worthwhile. The video is vile too; Murdoch comes across as a once much loved actor from some long forgotten show, let’s say The High Road, just out from rehab and with the bill yet to pay. And, worst of all, it’s a fecking earworm!!!!!

It’s marginally better than Don’t Come Home Too Soon I suppose. But it’s no Ally’s Tartan Army.
About halfway through it sounds a bit like Shout to the Top by the Style Council – but overall it’s a good song and finishes strongly. I don’t think it’s chant-y enough to adopted as something fans will sing though.
