But won’t a competition just mean that everyone resorts to using ADIEU or similar as their starter?
I don’t subscribe to the view that there are strong or weak opening words. Todays word for example only had one vowel and ADIEU would have had one right letter in the wrong place.
Words like adieu are apparently used by 75% of Wordle players worldwide. Using such starter words reduces the game to one of mathematical probability.
I’m also nowhere near as good as Baron
No-one is anywhere near as good as Baron – secretly he is a Bot.
Easiest way to do:
Starting from tomorrow (this evening for the Aussies)
Day 1 – score of 3 – 1 under par
Day 2 – score of 4 – total 7 – 1 under par
Day 3 – score of 5 – total 12 – par
And so on.
Each player keeps their own score.

Don’t know what the hard version is – can you explain please?
The hard version (easy to find on the page) makes you use the ‘right letters but in the wrong places’ on the next lines. For example:
COURT where R is yellow so your next try must have R somewhere
Never understood this – if it is yellow it is in the wrong place so why would you put it there again?
You wouldn’t, you’d put it somewhere else. Unless you were having a brain freeze.
First line COURT and C is a yellow.
The non-hard version would allow you to next enter
MAIZE (you know there’s a C somewhere but you want to find vowels quickly)
The hard version says you must use C
I think you’d be a C to not use it in its right place.
But it’s not in its right place, it’s correct but in the wrong place so you know it’s there but in line 2 you want to find the missing vowel(s) and so you cheat and that’s not fair and we all know Baron’s going to win anyway
But you don’t know what its right place is, all you know is that one of the 5 letters on the next line is a C, but there are only 4 places it can go, it’s not the first letter. I have to say that I’m not convinced that Hard Mode actually makes things any harder.
It doesn’t allow you to throw in a random unrelated word when you’re stuck. You must use the correct letters that you have already used.

I was going to suggest @Black-Celebration to referee the next round, being the first in the world and all that, but I fear for his liver if he ends up on his own in the clubhouse again next time. So I’m happy to volunteer. Wordle Golf Championship II will start on September 1, which will be August 31 to most of you, but tough.
There’s enough Wordle data for us to implement a handicap system for the next tournament.
