You exaggerate, Junior. It’s only 38 CDs and a Director’s Cut BD.
That’s about 51 hours of music. You could sit in the garden for two days straight (when it’s raining, natch), and lock yourself out of the house (no access to food or toilets), for the full recreational experience.
For a more authentic experience you should have a friend/relative start the playback in the far north of Scotland Friday teatime.
You should start your journey from the far south of England….say late Wednesday afternoon.
Completing the last five miles on foot and arriving just as Jimi takes the stage Sunday morning should be your aim.
If the 3-cd version is around £15 AND it is stocked on a local High Street I “might” get it.
Doubt it though, how often would even the 3-cd version get played?
Not-quite-ancient-enough history, from my POV. The last gasp of Peace & Love hippiedom (snow white and entitled) before Money, Drugs & Mayhem took over.
I can see the 50th anniversary being the obvious time to release all this, but if it’s of the same standard as the performances on the original movie and the Woodstock Diaries movie, there’ll not be much of quality to be found.
Or maybe they’ll surprise us.
Like most of this type of material, it’s simply being released to keep these recordings in copyright in the EU. If not released this year, anyone would have the rights to put this stuff out come the first of January next year.

Feeling’ Alright… Let’s Go Get Stoned (!)… Hitchcock Railway (!!)… With A Little Help (!!!)
@fatima-xberg didn’t Cocker re record his stuff for the movie? CS&N I can understand as easy to do but the syncing of Cocker’s performance was one hell of an effort.
Thanks fatima, apart from the Bluray with the CDs there will also be a 50th Bluray S.E. There was a 3 Disc Bluray S.E. but it was region 1 only, released for the 40th Anniversary, hopefully this release will be region free.
There was something I saw recently – Prince’s Sign ‘O’ The Times film, maybe – which has been licensed by a German company so is Region 2 only. That makes a change.
It used to be because Hollywood films were released in North America months before other parts of the world. So you could buy the DVD before cinema release in your part of the world. Not the case anymore, but sometimes the extras are different, there tends to be more room for them in NA because normally only 3 languages are included (English, French, Spanish), in Europe that can be lots more.
But as I state below a lot more Blu-rays are region free e.g. I bought Hitchcock 14 disc collection from amazon uk, plus others, and they all played on a region A player. Depends on the film company I think
And to get even more anal, there is no region 2 for Blu-ray is is (mainly) region A or B. I am in Canada and we are region A, every single Blu-ray music disc I have bought plays here on any player, and equally many films are now region free, although some are not marketed as such.
Anyway I bought a kit for my Oppo player that makes it completely region free, and it is a wonderful thing. Awesome sound too.
And that Prince one is really an exception, if indeed it is region B only. As it is a film not just a concert disc sold separately or included in a primarily music box set, then that is why it may be treated differently.
Something like this, it plugs into USB/RS232 port at the back or you can also put it inside case, you then enter a key sequence with remote (other ones seem to have shot up in price since I got mine):

Y`know if I`d have been there I`d definitely be in for this but I wasn`t there so I`m not.
I don`t know what`s in the 10 CD box for around £120 but I bought the 6 CD 40th Anniversary set for £18 bit of difference there.
I`m more interested in what`s going to be on the Bluray S.E., which hopefully will be Region Free.
fatima Xberg says
See above for the 10-CD track listing. The BluRay has the standard Director’s Cut of the “Woodstock” movie.

Do “regions” on discs still make any difference to people? I thought most would have region-agnostic kit by now?
fentonsteve says
My player is region-free DVD but Region 2 for BD. It was more than double the price for region-free BD.
I limited my choices as I wanted a player which had S/PDIF digital audio to connect the 24/96 stereo (on, for example, the XTC BDs) to my hi-fi.
Junior Wells says
What a classic Fenton post.

Yep, guilty as charged. A BD player which didn’t output pictures it would be even better!
