Somehow, my Katie Spencer – sensationally talented but a notable non-beard-wearer – was involved in a follicular misunderstanding that led to her being booked at the Beardy Folk Festival. In heated eleventh-hour negotiations with organisers, she got away with it by agreeing to perform only material written by beardy people, including this one.

A hundred years ago I was a folkie. Lived & breathed folk and ran the local club. Dylan went electric and I left it all behind.
My god, the brief glimpses of the audience in this clip shows every single one of them needs a good thrashing.
My goodness, your girl is something else. Lovely stuff!

That’s sublime! I can’t think of many covering John Martyn’s electric material with this level of class (not since I hung up my beard, anyway…😉)
(Edith – is there not a thriving black market in fake beards for attendees/performers who may be beardless?)

Thanks Colin!
Your tale of Katie’s intrepid expedition into the world of the Follicle Folk brightened my evening enormously.
One thing on my bucket list is to sit in a Belfast pub with you and listen to the stories you have to tell. In fact, I can think of several other fine AW raconteurs, who I would listen to with great pleasure.
One fine day, I will meet you all in person ….

Ha! Be careful what you wish for 😀 The @Blue_Boy once ended up in a Belfast pub with me blethering away and only just managed to make it back to safety (Liverpool) before turning into a pumpkin.
