Hindsight is Will Sensicle’s first solo single.
Poet William Blake had it spot on when he said “Hindsight is a wonderful thing … “. He obviously had the foresight to know.
Regardless of the fact that Will is the son of very good and long-standing friends, I think that this is a fantastic song that deserves exposure – even here! For me, it is redolent of bands like Prefab Sprout and Trash Can Sinatras, although I think it transcends its influences the more you hear it.
I have been listening to it again and again over the last 3 or 4 days and, in between times, I get phrases of the melody cropping up in my head.
Give it go – Tiggs’ regulation 6 listens, of course!
In hindsight I wish I`d just listened once.
Nothing wrong with it but heard it all before and done much better by others. Quite ordinary really.
BUT, that is my opinion and I expect others will differ.
No worries. Each to his own, of course.
What I do for a living does not expose me to public view/scrutiny, but it occurs to me that (regardless of what you or I or anyone else thinks of this particular song), there is something brave about a person committing their creation to some recorded form (whether written, musical or pictorial) and launching it into the world for people to read/listen to/see. Having done so, they are then at the mercy (so to speak) of the judgement of the public. I suppose that it’s all part-and-parcel of the creative process.
My favourite album is `Forever Changes`, I have friends who dislike it. That`s how it goes. For what it`s worth I agree with everything you say in your above comment @Pajp.
I must admit that I was taken aback when I first read your initial response, but I left it a few hours before writing what I wrote above. Thank you for your reply now.
I’m sort of in alignment with the Baron.
Is it good? Yes. Will I buy it? No. But only because I already have all the Sprouts and Trashcans I need.
FWIW, I detect a fair bit of The Silver Seas in there, as well.
