…switch off your television set and go out and do something less boring instead…?”
I have an unexpected day off today so I’m going to go for a run/walk in the hills surrounding Castle Howard while the sun shines. Anyone else doing anything outside their normal routine today?

We dropped the Light’s daughter and her boyfriend off in Manchester on Monday and after staying overnight (major ‘student house’ flashbacks) we stopped halfway back to Essex yesterday in Warwick, where we will stay for a few days ending with The Unthanks at Warwick Folk Fest on Thursday. After a largely sleepless night in 20+ heat we’re contemplating breakfast (places which do a decent cooked veggie breakfast are rare, so we’ll take advantage and sod the heat) then plan to take trains explore Leaminton Spa and Coventry. Thanks for asking.
I went for an early morning run on the South Downs; Mount Harry, Black Cap and a very short stretch of the South Downs Way. It was lovely.
Normally I go for a run at lunch time on the Worth Way, which is OK but the bit that I traverse is a bit boring.
Well, am on holiday from today so getting up at 7.30, cup of tea in the garden makes a change from usual frenetic routine. Off to meet some mates for pub lunch later (not unusual). Whether your day is the usual or unusual, enjoy it….bloody easy for me to say that but I mean it.
I’d like to not be stuck in my flat, but I’m expecting delivery of a case of wine.
On the bright side, I’m enjoying a re-read of “The Lady In The Lake”. Book No.5 in my Raymond Chandler odyssey
Yes, I usually work from home, but today I went into the office (which is my boss’s house).
We drank a lot of iced coffee, had lunch in the garden, got the new book layout planned… a lovely day.
No, busy day at work, oldies flaking in the heat, but enough about me……….
I’m in Dallas all week. That’s not normal.
How’s the veal?
