First a committee of dudes and ladies will have to be agreed on
Then the subjects of the Hall Of Fame would have to be decided. I suggest one subject at a time is discussed or this would lead to all manner of misunderstanding
The subjects well apart from the obvious ‘Musician’, Book, Movies, category’s we can do some ‘Blue Sky Thinking’ with regard to other categories
How does th Massive feel?

Is this like “the one ring to unify them” thread a few years ago? I think we all agreed “Ghost Town” was the definitive great single.
…and look how that turned out…😉
It definitely wasn’t Tragwyddoldeb by Cerys Hafana cos I checked just the other day.
While a very worthy (and dare I say popular) addition to such an establishment I would like to respectfully wrihdraw my name from being considered for inclusion.
If nominated, I shall not stand.
If appointed, I will not serve.
Dullest?
You’re all too kind, etc.
I was hoping not to include any AWers and their foibles, definitely not.
I actually quite like the idea. I like lists, and ordering on the basis of merit, and deciding on a “canon” of “good stuff”…. But I realise it’s divisive – and yeah I feel as if it’s been tried before and we just landed on quite bland outcomes which didn’t particularly please anyone? (see Ghost Town)
The charm of the AW community is that we have great difficulty in agreeing on anything.
For example, imagine if I was going out for an evening with thecheshirecat, locust, mike_h, retropath2 and bingolittle and I wanted to find a gig or movie that we’d all enjoy. Not completely impossible but not easy either. Choose any other five people and you’ll get variations on the same problem. Nothing wrong with that.
I don’t all my pals in real life to have exactly the same enthusiasms either.
A Hall of Fame where each of us has their own room and can display our personal favourites would be great. But one where we all have to agree? Nääääääh. I don’t think so. Not for me anyway.
I agree KFD
MODS please delete this thread it’s misunderstood and going nowhere, thank you
RayX – If ever there was a comment destined to keep something going, this is it. Don’t worry, you can’t win ’em all
I disagree.
I’m wavering either way.
I’m not wavering but drowning.
In Berlin
Or “I’m not wavering I’m drownering “
The Drownerers – you’re taking me overer
I still maintain there was something odd about the fella on the cover of that single.
Not much gets past me..
Yeah let’s just nip this in the bud and declare DONOVAN to be the greatest of all time in every imaginable category. We can agree on that surely
You are a genius, Dai! A natural problem solver.
That’s it then! The Hall of Fame sorted. One ginormous golden statue of the Mellow Yellow Hitmaker.
Ooops! I can’t help thinking of Ozzie Osbourne …….. and Ozymandias.
I always think of Donovan as more of a Big Architect
I remember that record – Duncan Johnson was a DJ on Capital Radio in the 70s, and “The Big Architect in the Sky” made Kenny Everett’s Bottom 30 chart on “The World’s Worst Wireless Show”.
It made KE’s World’s Worst Record (on fabulous puce vinyl), too. I still have my copy but rarely play it for reasons I’m sure you will understand
I won a copy of that in a Capital Radio comp. Never played it, partly because they ignored my World’s Worst Record submission and I was sulking.
