Some of you who know me elsewhere will be aware the Squeeze made a respectable man of me on Friday. Our celebration included this piece of music, during the signings, so, imagine our surprise when we visited Chester today. As we took a short cut through an alley I could hear violin playing, seeing a busker at street level below. Smooth tone? Check. Long hair and gothy? Check. Hell, purple violin and effects pedals aplenty? Check and double bloody check, for yes, it was he. And he seemed please to be told he had soundtracked at least part of our day. We were in 8th heaven! Couldn’t have planned it if we tried.

I first came across Ed Alleyne-Johnson as a busker about 10 years ago, not having a clue who he was then. I promptly bought 3 or 4 of his CDs. I like them a lot.
Congratulations Retro. Mrs Bungliemutt and I got engaged in October last year, and this week she bought me an engagement ring. Cripes! I think she’s serious.

Despite being a very optimistic, anything-is-possible, glass-half-full kind of person, I still see marriage as the ultimate act of bravery, of a kind I completely lack. But it warms my heart when others go for it, and I’m certain it will last this time around! 🙂

Blimey, thanks all, I was raising more the wonder of choosing a piece of recorded music and then meeting the performer 2 days later, quite by chance, But still truly touched by your noting the greater wonder of my hope against experience and the fabulous blessing I have been dealt against the odds. Brave? I think many would define our actions in other ways 😉
I’d imagine it’s a tad more likely than being a little more traditional in musical choice, then bumping into Felix Mendelssohn in town the next day? 🙂
