For many it’s the return to school tomorrow.
What we did… was asked and to write an essay and the enjoyment or not of the six weeks off.
Luckily two years ago I took redundancy from the school I worked at and can now enjoy holidays throughout the year.
How did this summer pan out for you?
I spent most of mine recovering from a second back operation but I shall be leaving soon for other climes.
Do not write on both sides of the paper at once.

Ate and drank too much. Up and down 209 steps every day to the beach burnt off the calories.

Rubbish summer despite great prospects. I rent where I live but have a house I am buying where I will live once I no longer have elderly parents to look after in my expensive home town. Anyway, my tenants did a flit, leaving the house like a rather dirty Marie Celeste. Recovering this situation has distracted me at every festival etc all summer. To compound, said elderly parent has been in and out of hospital for the last three months. Now he’s home, he has returned to his self belief in his own immortality, and so discards his carer visits as unnecessary and looks forward to driving again to his ophthalmology appointments, once this wretched boot is off his foot. He is 94.
Did lots worth note, including a long stretch of the South West Coast Path in the glorious sunshine (where I bumped into Retro, as you may have picked up elsewhere), but its was all tarnished.

Holidays? Yes, I remember those..
Seaside with Mum & Dad, then festivals with mates.
Then a four year long one followed by a succession of stoney-broke out of season ones.
Then a few more festivals with mates.
All in the distant past now.

I went to Anglesey and, by and large, had an excellent time.
The only problem was that the advertised broadband connection for the cottage was out of action for the entire fortnight following a failed switch to fibre.
Luckily I’d taken my laptop, a load of music on various USB sticks and my new Ruark MR1’s.
On the first day I happened on a/the solution for this problem https://theafterword.co.uk/atm-bluetooth-aptx-connection-sound-quality/ so we had plenty of great music.
We also connected up the Ruarks to the cottage TV (3.5mm headphone jack was the only connection option – I had hoped for an optical connection) and that made TV watching much more enjoyable.
The aardvarkess is very impressed with the Ruarks – she doesn’t know how much they cost yet. (Luckily I was able to use an A****n voucher I’d won to soften the cost by £100.)
