Already announced is a new John Prine album and the Mary Gauthier album due in the first month of 2018 promises to be a really strong one.
Aside from this it seems David Byrne may be releasing new music and so too Gretchen Peters.
Outside of these I would welcome a new Costello and the Imposters album but not any theatre production album so he can keep A Face in the Crowd shelved. Springsteen allegedly has an album of sons complete but not a planned release date.
I have given up on new Guillemots music but Eels will hopefully come out of hibernation.
What are you looking forward to in 2018?

On March 2 Andrew W.K. is releasing his first album in 12 years.
The track list and album cover are revealed here. They’re both phenomenal.

*mic drop*
I was working at The Forum recently and saw a poster for this

I thought to myself, “Bingo would like this.”
I already have a ticket!
Quadron. Alice Smith. Disco Elephants.
New Calexico in January plus tour.
Richard Thompson electric trio album is, I think, in the bag and release to be accompanies by UK dates next year. Only a couple of festival slots announced so far by I have high hopes of more, and indoor, gigs.
Already on order are the Jethro Tull / Heavy Horses deluxe reissue and the Fleetwood Mac / Fleetwood Mac boxset.
Also planned for 2018 release are a new Tears For Fears album (and hopefully the completed Steven Wilson mix of “Seeds Of Love”). I guess there’s a chance we may also see a 50th Anniversary (with Giles Martin new mix?) of the “White Album”. There’s also rumours of a Gerry Rafferty box in the works (cue usual comments…..)
What I’d love to see would be something new from Peter Gabriel, the “Buckingham Nicks” album finally getting an official release and hope against hope, something new from Kate Bush (also a Steven Wilson 5.1 mix of “Hounds Of Love” would be amazing).
@Chrisf you`ve said everything for me;
Heavy Horses ✔
Rumours ✔
Tears For Fears ✔
Seeds Of Love ✔
White Album ✔
Peter Gabriel ✔
Buckingham/Nicks ✔
Hounds Of Love ✔………..I would buy all of these.
Others already posted;
Calexico✔
Widflowers or any TP box set of unreleased material✔
Tom Waits✔
What I`d like to see;
New Dylan self-penned material✔
New Neil Young album, well we get one every year or unreleased stuff will do✔
That`s all I`d like to buy next year unless something NEW and BRILLIANT comes along.
According to the current Mojo there is a 9cd boxset of Teardrops Explodes in the works and an even bigger Julian Cope solo set around the corner.
Who do I need to give my money to?
9 CDs of the Teardrops!
Much as I loved the band (and they were pretty much my favourite band for a year or two in the early 80s), I can’t help feeling that there must be a fair bit of padding in this forthcoming set. Probably one or two dodgy live performances, recorded from the back of a hall on a mono cassette recorder.
But I can hope that it will be so much better than that.
There is a new False Lights album for january, just when I had thought them a one-off.
Who they? Jim Moray’s folk-rock band.
There is a long-promised expanded version of Tom Petty’s Wildflowers that would be nice to see.
Josh Rouse
Nick Cave
Bon Iver
Phosphorescent
Anais Mitchell
The Black Keys
Damon Albarn [solo]
First Aid Kit
Joanna Newsome
Sturgill Simpson
Julia Holter
Tame Impala
Anything that Quantic is involved with
and as it will be almost two years since her last release by the end of 2018, I would like a new one from Laura Marling
@Lemonhope
First Aid Kit’s new album Ruins will be released in January.
Doves
Teenage Fanclub
Stars
Boards of Canada
Daft Punk
Natalie Merchant
If all of these came out with new albums in 2018 I’ll be a happy man.
Umm… a new Stars album came out this year in Oct

Asleep at the wheel here. They slipped that one out for sure, seems to be a significantly lower key release than No One Is Lost.
A Jeff Tweedy record of new material would be my first choice but some new stuff from John Hiatt wouldn’t go amiss.
A new Tom Waits. It could happen.
A new Avalanches. It probably won’t happen, despite the fact they’ve put a few teasers up on instagram over the last few months saying they’ve been working on new material.
Kate Bush?
New Damned album due imminently (actually been due since last March, only now finishing off in the studio with Tony Visconti)
Kinks Village Green Preservation Society due for 50th Anniversary re-issue – will it be markedly different to the 40th Anniversary issue?
Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton properly reconcile and re-form The Jam (with Mark Brzezcki on drums).
Initially touring under the banner ‘From From The Jam (And Beyond)’
2018 will be a great year if Kathleen Edwards decides she is tired of brewing coffee and realises she has songs to write and record and, heaven forfend, tour.
Cunningly enough @Carl I was thinking the same this am. We can only hope.
A cunning plan might be what is required.
Let’s get plotting…
Funnily not cunningly.
I finally have my new car. The quality of the bass is tremendous, perfect for heavy, heavy dub. The Junjo Presents reissues from 2016 sound tremendous, as do Dreadzone, Roger Robinson and The Thievery Corporation from this year. I’m hoping for loads more bass heavy monster sounds in 2018 to soundtrack my grandad cruisin’ round town.
“Dreadzone, Roger Robinson and The Thievery Corporation” – You’re me! I’m you! We are one! I knew this would happen eventually.
If only I was as good-looking. 😳
Andrew Eldritch said he would record a new Sisters album if Trump became US president. I’m not holding out much hope (of it being released, or of it being any good if it is), but you never know.
A new LP from Gerry Rafferty’d be nice – he’s been quite far too long.
We may already have the reissue of 2018, the February 2018 CD with Mojo magazine – “2000 Light Years From Home” – 15 psych tracks.
It’s free, it’s available to everyone (certainly everyone in the U.K.), it’s brilliant and, best of all, it’s not on bleedin’ vinly.
Aye – it is superb. More Mojo free stuff like this please
(it’s almost worth maintaining the subscription for cover CDs like this one)
It isn’t free. Its cost is included in the price of the magazine.
Gillian Welch. Come ooooon.
Another Van der Graaf Generator LP would be nice….
Hopefully more expanded remasters from the Prince Vault – the ATWIAD/Parade period would be nice for starters.
A proper mad mega remaster box set of the White Album would be lovely
Tracey Thorn has been recording a new record. John Fogerty has signed a new deal and an album is promised. And the release of The White Album outtakes should be interesting.
On my wish list would be some new material from Natalie Merchant…
I’d like to see two of the discs from The Natalie Merchant Collection released separately; i.e the Butterfly and Rarities discs.
I have seven of the ten discs in that box set and don’t feel inclined to shell out again (even if it is a reasonably priced £35 on the Dodgers).
I’d just like some more good music that I like.
I don’t care who makes it as long as I get to hear it.
