To my mind the ‘Tallica boys have just managed to haul themselves back from the brink of self parody. This new material is the most promising output from them since Trujillo came on board, maybe since Black.
See ya down the pit!

Nuts! Where’s the clip? Ah, here it is. I hope.
Haven’t been impressed by a Metallica album since the Black.
Their output since Load has at best, in my ears, been OK. Death Magnetic I’ve never managed to play more than twice (maybe 3 times), and Lulu was … nah!
I’ve bought the albums out of a sense of (possibly) misplaced loyalty rather than musical wonder/desire.
This is sounding much more hopeful though
Pretty much that, yes. Also worth your time is the other trailed track on imminent LP:
Very promising. Looking forward to the new one now
Translation?
Is this going to be one of those Metallica albums where people fall over themselves praising it because it’s got 3 tunes instead of the usual 2? 🙂
And what do we all think after a weekend’s listening? Sounds pretty good to me, but it’s way too long – chopping out three or four tracks wouldn’t hurt. I’m particularly enjoying Spit Out The Bone:
Only listened twice so far (only once properly).
Sounding good … time for some Washing Up to give it a proper listen
Murder One for me at the moment.
Got all the Metallica tricks of old.
Acoustic intro, thumping drums and a massive guitar onslaught, and a growled vocal.
Not wishing to hark back to the past (but I’m going to anyway) sounds like something from the Lightening/Puppets era.
Agree that it just feels too long – at around 1 hour 20 minutes, its about 20/30 minutes too long. Still good, just a lot of time needed to do the regulation 6 listens
