Yesterday was my birthday. I was updating some info on my iTunes, as it had somehow decided that all my Beatles albums were disc 2 of 2, and I am a stickler for accuracy. I had got to Let it Be, I think, and suddenly the laptop started playing a track from Sgt Pepper, an album I hadn’t yet got to in my updating (I wasn’t actually listening to anything at the time). The track was When I’m Sixty Four and yes, I am now 64! Anyone else had iTunes getting a bit too personal?

On my last birthday iTunes put on Babybird’s 45 & Fat.
Bastard.
Uncannily accurate…..bastard.
When i got my first CD player it was a Pioneer 6-disc changer (I was late to the party so went large). Of course I had to buy some discs, so off I went to the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street, the one with the CD manufacturing room in the basement and visible from the street. Anywhoo, “Wish You Were Here” was one of the six discs I’d bought and loaded into it for the first play session. I hit Shuffle, and “Welcome To The Machine” came on.
“So this is the future,” I thought to myself, then probably got pissed while they all played out.
