Author:Richard Osman
The sequel to 2024’s We Solve Murders, this new addition to this ongoing series sees our team of amateur sleuths reunited in pursuit of a bunch of bad boys who are involved in the murky online world of selling fake pills and potions.. The novel is very much of the same genre and overall feel as the Thursday Murder Club books, a cosy but nonetheless intriguing thriller, which takes us from a sleepy village pub in middle England to the glamour of Italy, Spain and the USA on the trail of a murderous villain. The characters are beautifully crafted, and each has been carefully imbued with their own unique personality traits making it easy to feel a certain empathy towards their individual quirks and foibles. Osman might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he certainly knows how to keep the reader engaged with the convoluted plot line, and as the bodies keep on piling up you keep on turning the pages to the next chapter to discover what comes next for the intrepid trio. This is undoubtedly another best seller, an easy but engaging and almost comforting read that maintains the excitement to the very end, but where you just know the good guys will eventually prevail and the baddie will get his just desserts. Overall, a fun mystery that fans will love and that has plenty of dry humour and witty banter – and what other book manages to combine British institutions like Waitrose, Bella Italia and Countdown with globetrotting detectives, nefarious international villains and murder most foul,,,,,look out for it in your Christmas stocking!

Might appeal to people who enjoyed…
Although it can be read as a standalone book, it works best if you’ve already read the preceding novel so are aware of the characters back stories.
One thing you’ve learned
As Osman is alternating the two series, next year will see a new Thursday Murder Club title.

Great review my wife is currently reading and absolutely loving this so I shall be giving it a go too.
I think Richard Osman is one of the funniest, sharp-witted blokes around. Have never finished one of his books and, god help us all, the film (which he has subsequently subtly disowned) was terrible beyond belief. I will more than likely give this one a go but my hopes are not high.
Pierce Brosnan as the union bloke may be the worst piece of casting ever. Even worse than some of the roles Sean Connery phoned in.
I assume Ray Winstone was busy. Really, how could they screw up such straightforward material so badly with that cast and Chris Columbus backed by Spielberg? I enjoy the Thursday Murder Club books but couldn’t get along with the first We Solve Murders, so I’ll wait for this one to join its predecessors in the local chazzas.
I enjoy what I see of him on YouTube, very smart man, but I tried one of his books, being a fan of murder mysteries, and like LoW couldn’t finish it. Still, very clever of him to engineer his books for his demographic.
