Not sure how many of you are football fans, let alone how many like cartoons. One of the most consistent things I’ve found recently (from the recommendation of friends) is the David Squires cartoon column in the Guardian. Brilliantly drawn, very funny, and full of references not only to footy, but also to various bits of pop culture. This week’s (about West Ham, which is quite a depressing situation) is superb and well worth a look.

David Squires is superb – there’s always so many little jokes and references in the background. The fact that he’s based in Australia (and a Swindon fan) only makes it even more impressive.
I’m a Spurs fan, but even I view the unravelling of West Ham with some sympathy. The fans (and they are mostly decent people) are being let down by the owners and a large number of hooligans who are venting their anger inappropriately. The heart has been ripped out of the dear old club.
@nigelT consensus is that Squires hasn’t quite got Poch in the way he has Mourinho or Guardiola (as Gru) – but last week’s little boy out in the snow tasting snowflakes on his tongue was excellent.
Happy Squires Day! The BTL comments are also required reading – as there’s always a few references that I don’t get first time out – this week including Big Vern (but of course!). Last week’s City v Chelsea panel which had Conte leaving his PlayStation controller on the sideboard while he took a dump was just typical of the man’s genius.
They are really good. Thanks for the link.
