An electronic* engineer speaks: how does the massive magnetic field generated to turn the platter not saturate the tiny manget or coils in the pickup cartidge?
(*) magnetism isn’t my specialist subject, to be honest
They’re probably using one of those cheap ceramic cartridges as found in Crossley players, which generate the signal via the piezoelectric effect instead.
That’s an Ortofon OM series moving-magnet jobber in the video.
I don’t know much about magnetic theory, but I do know lots of hi-fi related “fascinating” facts.
