August 2015 I got excited that Sony Legacy were systematically re-releasing Van’s back catalogue much of which has been unavailable on cd for many years. I wasn’t expecting to be a case of a couple of discs being reissued every month but its now 8 months and there is absolute sweet FA. Is this another case of Van reneging on his deal. Please don’t tell me they are digital only releases.
Anyone know what the fuck is going on?

Nowt on the inter web about it, beyond the excited announcements from Sony Legacy at the time, and a few 2016 “vinyls”. About 3 in fact. Otherwise it seems to be “streaming rights” which is as much a pisser for you as the nane suggests,

Pure supposition, but what odds George Ivan is fucking them round.

There was some mention at the time about some of the albums being reissued in expanded form in the future – Hard Nose The Highway was one – but it all seems to have gone quiet since then.

Oooh! Oooh! Exciting!
A fabulous box set entitled “It’s Too Late to Stop Now: Volume II, III, IV & DVD” is slated for at 10 June release, at least on Amazon.
Despite eager googling, I haven’t been able to find a full track listing.
But the good folks at the Steve Hoffman forum are speculating that the DVD in the box set is the Live at the Rainbow film which has existed as a bootleg video for decades.
And the “Volumes II, III and IV” are presumably other live tracks or full live shows from the same era.
But in any case, it sounds like a pretty interesting release, as the original double live album is, of course, a genuine classic. I believe Kaisfatdad was at one of those legendary shows with the Caledonia Soul Revue. Perhaps we’ll catch a glimpse of him in the audience of the DVD show?

Sounds fantastic. I’ve got the live at the Rainbow bootleg DVD and it is on YouTube too.

I’m sort of homing that they’ve got Colin H to do the sleeve notes for the box set.
“Take me back. TAKE ME WAY WAY BACK. To Finsbury Park, in 1973. Walkin’ down the Seven Sisters Road, stopping off at a kiosk to buy some obscure shellfish in case we got famished…”

I’ve told the wife I’m selling her in order to acquire this, if it comes to that.

A friend just shared this with me. Van with traditional musicians including Donal Lunny. Recorded at Temple Bar in Dublin in 2010.

Still quiet on the Van front, CD-wise anyway. Anyone heard anything more about the reissue schedule?
deramdaze says
I pulled a bit of a “Jimmmmeeee rec-kon” when first mooted, expecting this reissue campaign would (a) be aimed at the vinly/fresh air crowd (those connoisseurs are the future), and (b) wouldn’t include the one I want (the skiffle Lonnie/Barber CD, c. 1999) anyway!
Looks like I was right, any bloody news?
While I’m at it, “Rolling Stones No. 2” on CD, 33 years and waiting, is it going to come out individually this year, or shall I just toast to the “34th year and waiting” now?

A deluxe Healing Game is scheduled for the autumn.

Disc 3 is live.

So it was never an “everything is going to be released” job anyway, more of a “we’re gonna tell you everything is going to be released but dribble out a few things every now and then as we would do normally” scenario.
Hmm.
Still, admittedly more honourable than the re-selling via heavy advertising of the (lousy) Stones’ back catalogue in 2001 and then putting out new (equally lousy) versions in 2002.
Any news on Rolling Stones No. 2? Someone must be on the inside in Tongue-logo T-shirt world!
I’ve had Jimi’s and Bob’s and The Beatles’ and The Pink Floyd’s second LP on CD for three decades now, I’d quite like the Stones’ equivalent.
Obviously, there’s no rush.
