The music industry and how you’ve been wronged by everyone in it for fifty years.
’tis true… he has had fewer hits than the ‘no-hits’ act, and that is a number that, in cricket parlance, ‘… didn’t trouble the scorers’.
I’m sorry, ‘not’ up for discussion? Yikes.
About no hits, I might as well post it here.
The latest issue of Uncut (Small Faces) has a bit about Belly and their big hit of 1993, and how it was massive for them etc. etc.
Erm… it flopped in the U.S. and got to No. 32 in the U.K.
How many copies gets you to No. 32 in the U.K. in 1993… 5,000?
I’m over-egging it… more 3,000.
Nah… 2,000.
Belly were (and are again) a grunge band, I doubt the hit parade was really their target market. They were just really, really, good live. I had many a thoroughly enjoyable evening seeing them in their mid-90s prime. And, I assume, you did not.
They’re on tour in the UK in September if you want to find out for yourself. They’re playing all of their Glyn Johns produced second album. Yes, that one – the Beatles and Stones fella.

You forgot pastie suppers, and jars of mussels and potted herrings.
I heard there’s a Brian Kennedy documentary, but it’s a repeat.
