Prompted by fentonsteve’s recent posts, can I draw you attention to a few VdGGdates coming up in April/May 2021, rescheduled from November 2020. Tickets for the November shows are still valid, and so I will be going to the Manchester show. Like fentonsteve, I fully expect that these shows will be further postponed. Hey- ho…hopefully the boys in the band will be fit to tour later in the year, or early in 2022.
Hold on to those tickets, fans!!

Hopefully the show will take place as it will most likely be their final time in Macunia and possibly my final time seeing them as well, some 45 years after our first encounter, the Free Trade Hall, November 22nd 1976 to be precise. Where did those years go….
Yes – I’ve managed to see them on each tour since the reformation and, after each of the gigs, have found myself wondering if that was the last one. This tour feels more final, although I have no hard evidence for that: partly their ages; partly the current zeitgeist, I suppose…they were certainly playing as well as ever on the previous tour (…lighthouse keepers, etc).
Saw them once more than 40 odd years ago.
Assuming it goes ahead I will get tickets for the Brum gig.
By the way have you heard Hammill with Amorphous Androgynous on their new album – his vocals are very strong.

Regarding the OP: early 2022 it is, then…any bets on cancellation due to ill health/covid/anything else?
…and, just to complete the circle for the historical record (future generations and all that): the gig went ahead – but I missed it, due to me being ill – curses!

…and a further addendum: the European leg of the tour was halted in May 2022 (about halfway through), when Hammill was hospitalised for surgery. He was subsequently well enough to tweet that, although he was alive and recovering, the remaining dates would be cancelled as he needed some post-surgery rest and recuperation.
So: two “covid” tour cancellations and an emergency surgical intervention. Not a straightforward tour, then…
