Yours for a mere $9m. But you don’t get the archive as that is subject to a separate Kickstarter fund, which currently is only 10% funded. It seems Frank didn’t make any provision for what he left behind. Anyone fancy a whip-round?

May not ship to Australia, I see. Disappointed.
It’s really sad that the house is not being kept in the family. The collection may be broken up and thrown to the four winds.
It could also mean a flood of new releases with very little quality control.
Is there any Zappa Holy Grail material that hasn’t yet been released? I’d fancy a cleaned up version of The Ark bootleg that was released as part of the Beat the Boots set, but apart from that, is there really anything there that hasn’t already been released?
I’d like to hear some good quality releases of the 1973 band, with George Duke, Jean-Luc Ponty and Ruth & Ian Underwood all present.
“Piquantique” has some excellent stuff from this version of the Mothers and there’s some nice long clips on YouTube, from a Scandinavian TV show of that time plus a top-notch soundboard recording from a gig somewhere in the USA.
Some great live stuff has appeared since he died. For example the 2007 double CD Buffalo recorded in 1980 with the Tinsel Town Rebellion band is just great, easily as good as the other live stuff from the period.
Since Frank recorded everything and every show was different, there must be more of this stuff still unreleased.
Cheers guys. I had the Piquantique CD. Was that the one with a great version of T’Mershi Duween? That’s the thing with Frank, it’s not just that he had such a lot of great material, but that he was able to come up with so many interesting arrangements of that material. I’d fancy more from the 1973 band myself, but will there be anything there so much better than the Helsinki concert released as YCDTOSA 2?
To be honest, the Buffalo is a harder sell, Johnny. I’m not really a fan of Tinseltown Rebellion, or You Are What You Is for that matter. I don’t like the early 80s bands synths! Bobby Martin was it?
And can I just say how much I appreciate the fact that in this place I can go Full Zappa Nerd?
Ohhhh it feels great!
Fully agreed about that synth sound.
Tommy Mars and Alan Zavod were the culprits. I think Bobby Martin just played piano and sax.
Well I can understand the Zappa children wanting to sell the place and make a bit of money.
Not sure I like the director guy making the film – “Zappa wrote symphonies” – er no, that’s exactly what he DIDN’T write.
Check out the video at around 3.00 where he’s sitting on the diving board. Behind him you can see the album artwork for Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch up on the gable end of the roof.
