I’m at The Sage Gateshead enjoying a set from Lucy Farrell, having just finished watching the Unthanks perform their 2007 album The Bairns. Tonight they’ll play Here’s the Tender Coming and Last. Then they get the overnight tour bus down to The Barbican and do it all again tomorrow. If you have a ticket then you’re in for a treat. I don’t often listen to The Bairns as I find it somewhat austere but I can tell you that their performance of it earlier this afternoon was absolutely gorgeous.

I’ve just picked up tickets for the Barbican tomorrow from someone who has been struck down with Covid, which is a welcome surprise treat for us.
