I’ve got a few hi fi set ups and with a move planned in the next 18 months I need to consolidate.
To date my turntables have been so so – a project mid-tier, technics fake and an inherited CEC semi-auto from the ’70s. But I have always spent a bit of dosh on the cartridges.
I am wondering whether my “final” setups in the new digs should include a significantly upgraded turntable. They don’t skip, no significant hum unless I crank the amp up big time and don’t play anything and they keep the right speed.
So where is the meaningful improvement coming from in a fancy pants turntable?
