Musings on the byways of popular culture
Damn! Only picked up a vinyl copy – in black – a couple of weeks ago. Green – fantastic!
Sainsbury’s choices are quite interesting really. I’m hoping they get around to a reduced price version of the White Album.
Perfect timing for me as I’ve been meaning to rebuy it for ages – off to the shops at 8 tomorrow!
FFS stop it!
I’m confused -Sainsbury’s is a supermarket isn’t it?
More a vendor of domestic goods these days. The two I tried today didn’t have it so off to the mega store in London Colney tomorrow. Which is a bit hassle so they’d better bleedin’ have it. They appear to be going for vinyl in a big way so good for them. Good prices too.

Aqualung and Superfly appear to be the odd ones out.
Steven Wilson remaster or bog-standard issue?
Mmm very good question, it doesn’t say. I’ll have a listen on Monday and compare to the different versions. It sounds bloody great though, whoever did the master. It’ll be a different master for vinyl anyway of course.
Yep, it’s the 2011 Steven Wilson Stereo Remix, complete with lovely 24 page book. It’s a gobsmackingly good pressing to boot.
Ahh well I was ascribing a level of nerdiness to Ruff’s question which he may not have intended…but the story is, when the 2011 remix was completed by Steven Wilson, some other mastering engineer did the master for the initial CD set. SW wasn’t happy with the master, so for the book set which came out recently he did the mastering himself – so in fact there are two version of the SW remix, one mastered by him and one by ANO. I interpreted Ruff’s question as being which master is it, given they are both the SW remix.
As you were….

*Doffs cap* That’s precisely why I love this place so much!
Ooh, didnt realise it came with a booklet. Popped to the local Sainsburys just before 4pm closing today. Seems there’s plenty in this promotion but I got Aqualung on green vinyl, they had 2 copies left. 5 copies of each of the Madonna albums on coloured vinyl and Marquee Moon and Welcome to The Pleasuredome both on white vinyl.
Will rip the seal off and give it a spin tomorrow.
