Since it’s still the weekend, here’s another tiny, tiny quiz. Credit to @Kaisfatdad, who sent this quote to me – so he is, of course, banned from taking part (unless he chips in with a cryptic clue or two)…answer will appear tomorrow!
Here’s an extract from a review in the NME.
No clues: no year, no journalist name…
Which album do you think is being reviewed?
“Great music for people who’ve wasted their youth to sit around drinking beer and wasting the rest of their lives to”
Black Celebration says
My guess would be Definitely Maybe.
H.P. Saucecraft says
Fairly sure this is another Julie Burchill corker.
Moose the Mooche says
No, it doesn’t refer to the physical unattractiveness of the artist, which is always a crucial element of any critical response to music
Kaisfatdad says
Jools? Now there’s a cue for a song.
Kaisfatdad says
I’m glad you accepted my suggestion @fitterstoke. Good work. Your Tiny Quiz is an excellent format for a brain teaser. And there’s no need for us to stick to the NME or indeed music reviews.
fitterstoke says
I must admit, KFD – if you’d posted this quote yourself, my own guess would have been wrong!
Carl says
I’m taking a punt on a band that was flavour of a few months in the 80s – The Quireboys: A Bit Of What You Fancy.
retropath2 says
The New Modern Jazz Quartet?

Sunday morning is an ideal time to enjoy the cool sounds of the MJQ.
They were hot. Sadly though you aren’t even warm, Retro!

Well, I suspect we may have reached the end of the line with this one.
So: the answer –
As suggested by HP above, it was a quote from a review by Julie Burchill, in the NME.
She was reviewing “The River”, by the mighty Bruce Springsteen.
Johnb says
I recall that review.she said that independence day is terrific, as good as his fans will say it is but they will also say that about I’m a rocker so you can’t trust them.
Clive says
Some nonsense from Ocean Colour Scene
