If you get a chance, hear this week’s edition. It is just being repeated. Amazing, and a nice antidote to the bile that seems to be rising in the collective consciousness.

I listened to it yesterday in the car, but had to pull over when I seemed to get some dust in my eye. My admiration for his innate decency and humanity knows no bounds.

I’d never heard of him but he sounds like a marvellous chap. Will try and give it a listen.

The subject is an eminent surgeon called David Nott.

I heard it on Sunday and had meant to post a recommendation.
An excellent edition and proof that the lives of ordinary (though I’d say Dr Nott’s life has been extraordinary) non celebs can be far more interesting, important and engaging than those of the rich and famous.

Haven’t heard it yet, but I just noticed that iTunes has it labelled as “Explicit”, unlike every other DID episode that I’ve downloaded, which gets the “Clean” tag. I know iTooooons is a pile of toss, but it’s useful for grabbing padcats, er, I mean podcasts, but all the same anyway, when did surgery become explicit? Eh?

I was a bit surprised to hear Nott choose Schoolly-D’sPussy Ain’t Nothin’ But a Meat On a Bone, but I suppose it connects with is surgical interests.

Yes – I listened this am and was interupted and I will be listening to the bits I missed but I felt that I was pleased to be listening to someone being recognised for something that I might not have ever heard about. He came across as a very special person and I’m really glad I heard this as I do not listen to this as much as I should do. Good call BigJimBob

I’d like to be on Desert Island Discs one day.
I’d be able to present eight BRILLIANT records, but sadly the story of my life would be so boring that all the listeners would switch off after the first five minutes, despite the best efforts of Kirsty Young to ask interesting questions and liven it up a bit..

As you have been told this week, @DuCo01, you have a soothing voice which is a great pleasure to listen to. I’m sure that the good listeners of Britain would be clustered around the radio, hanging om your every word.
Can you imagine Jane Austen on DID? She never did anything exciting but I’m sure she’d be great to listen to.
Moose the Mooche says
Revolutionising the English novel not exciting?
For shame!
Uncle Wheaty says
A good listen.
Needs more Waterboys IMHO.
