Just a fantastic moment, so powerful and resonant.
Barack is a great humanitarian who has never failed during his Presidency to show this and take on those who have tried to slap him down. Whether he will be judged to be a great President remains to be seen. In my eyes he is.

This is where Barack Obama is at his finest, uniting a nation with vision and hope and drawing on the oratorical tradition of the Black church.
That he can pull of such an act without the whole thing turning to bathetic dust is testimony to his sheer presence.

Hmm, not sure about uniting the nation on black issues.
Black issues are a central factor for about 15 per cent of the population, the rest don’t really give a shit because it never touches their lives in a serious way.
Unfortunately he has completely betrayed of his environmental principles re. Alaska/The Arctic and Shell.

There are times particularly near the end where it threatens to descend into almost a MLK parody but Obama’s great strength is public speaking and he has a gift for oratory unparalleled since perhaps JFK. Almost an anachronistic skill in a digitally mediated world.
He’s no Jon Stewart is he?
