I’ve never liked Country music. In the mid 1970s, The Eagles were even worse than Country. They were MoR as well, a hideous kind of soft country rock. Any positives were stultified by huge dollops of syrupy strings. Take It To The Limit was one of the most hideous examples. It was an inescapable keystone for the best selling album of the 20th Century (in America at least). I loathed it. Gradually, over the years, something in the harmony vocals and Randy Meisner’s falsetto improvisations in the final minute crept into my soul. By the deep, dark eighties, those strings, that sweet melody and Randy’s determination to keep going, at least one more time, lifted me from gloom. It stopped me from giving up and helped me find the strength to try again. Now, it’s a song and a performance I turn to in times of greatest need. I’m eternally grateful to it, even though, or because, it’s the only Eagles song I can stand.
Like Vulpes, my @pencilsqueezer artwork is also still giving me a joyful tingle each time I pass it. If you’ve ever had the urge to own one of his works of art, now’s the time to commission one, as P is getting to the end of his waiting list and will have some free painting time on his hands.
As well as my lovely painting, this song, which I bought on 78 a few weeks ago, also gives me no small amount of pleasure, mainly because the gals sing the word”Willie” a lot, and I’m that basic. I hope you enjoy it Peter, if you’re reading. Mwah xxx

This answers quite a few questions for me.

S Alright – but it’d not Howard from the Halifax is it?
Beany says
Am I the only person on here who has seen Howard perform live? Please don’t let me be the only one otherwise I might get worried.
SteveT says
That is truly uplifting even though it most certainly stage managed.
Kaisfatdad says
Stage managed and carefully rehearsed too. But it’s so wonderfully done, I can easily forgive them.
anton says
don’t think Ludwig was known for his improv pieces or street art but wtf quite a catchy tune eh?
anton says
even without a blonde guitarist jangling away…:)

Thanks Mini. I’ve added it to my frankly dodgy looking site now.

I like the way the perspective boggles my mind. Wonderful as ever!

Does Etta do it less eagly for you, Tiggs?
Junior Wells says
I quickly grabbed the headphones when I saw this. Love Etta but gotta say that Randy’s high notes just make that song.
Tiggerlion says
I agree with Junior!

Judging by what ‘Willie’ does for them, I’m not surprised those sisters are always smiling.
