I am usually sceptical of remasters/reissues , most of which, IMHO, are financial rip-offs aimed squarely at gullible old men.
Jason shows how it should be done. Original album remastered followed by outakes/demos then the whole album played live in 2022.
Bravo!

Bumpity bump.
And you can buy the physical product for about £20

I can’t listen to that as I’m at the beach and don’t know who Jason is. Talking of which, here’s something I bet you didn’t know: the new UK Secretary of State for Defence, Grant Shapps (who, it seems, is considering sending British troops into Ukraine to train soldiers there) is the brother of a bloke who was in Big Audio Dynamite.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
You know that and you don’t know who Jason is? (Beautiful summers day here too, perfect temperature 32C, not a cloud in the sky. Mind you a deluge of rain would be good, nearly a year now ..)
Gary says
You surprise me. Here it rained constantly in May, more than I and probably any other living person has ever seen before.

Even the olive trees are struggling …
Gary says
Sounds like Jean de Florette/Manon des Sources all over again.
Kaisfatdad says
You call yourself a cinephile and you don’t know who Jason is!
Gary says
I’m more a Michael Myers fan.
Baron Harkonnen says
Brother @Gary? Now that’s what I call b@ll@cks.*
* I don’t swear anymore.

My computer’s internet says:
Early life
Shapps was born on 14 September 1968 in Croxley Green,[citation needed] Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, the son of Beryl and Tony Shapps.[5][6] His family is Jewish.[7] Grant’s brother, Andre Shapps, is a musician who was a member of Big Audio Dynamite (BAD) between 1994 and 1998, playing keyboards.
Junior Wells says
Will give it a listen. He really hasnt matched that album has he ?
Baron Harkonnen says
Oh yes he has!*
*IMHO
Lodestone of Wrongness says
Oh no he hasn’t! A top bloke who
has made many excellent albums since but nowt as good as Southeastern
SteveT says
Albums? Maybe not, songs yes.

I really like Jason’s latest album, “Weathervanes”. It’s his best since the unbeatable “Southeastern,” I think.
Cheers for the tip about the Youtube video of the “Southeastern” concert. Watched the first two songs yesterday. Very good.
SteveT says
Just looking deeper into this. Not sure it is how to do it at all. 3 cd’s of the same songs in the same order – the original album, demos and then live. Not sure this excites me if I am honest.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
Mrs W agrees. You are both, of course, Wrong
Twang says
That YouTube film is brilliant. What an amazing album. It’s without doubt a highlight of his career but that’s not to suggest the other albums are lower quality – they’re just different. Southeastern was a raw, draining his soul of poison album after his lost years and getting sober which gives it a special intensity but the others are more expansive and look at other things beyond utter misery – redemption songs, if you like. I have room for both.
