Sooooo….been toying with the idea of this for a while so thought – why not?
Lots of great tunes linked by me burbling stuff. Pretty straight forward.
Hope you like it, if you do, tell your friends, if you don’t then keep it to yourself

That was most enjoyable.
I was reading and not always paying attention but I recognised Chas & Dave & Lonnie Donegan straight away by their voices on their excellent cover of “You Won’t See Me”.
The Kate Rusby track was good too. I’ve always really liked her voice but haven’t always liked the amount of Trad Arr. and songs which sound Trad Arr. in her repertoire. Nice to hear her singing something that’s not ancient. She sang a great cover of “You Belong To Me” on one of her albums.
Good to hear “Whitey On The Moon” too.
More of this kind of thing!
DogFacedBoy says
The album that Kate Rusby track is from is a bit less folky than usual. Technology audible like synths and drum loops. I’d never taken much notice of her really but I like that album a lot
Lemonhope says
I enjoyed that DFB, good car journey listen
DogFacedBoy says
Thanks for listening and the feedback. Hope to make them a regular thing.
And the old Afterword Podcast will return in due course. Just need to get my Mojo working
Moose the Mooche says
Oh friggin’ ‘ell, not somebody burbling on about the Beano album for an hour…
DogFacedBoy says
Not on my watch, sunshine
Junior Wells says
Is there a wink missing there ?
Junior Wells says
@Moose-the-Mooche, having stuck my nose far too far into the “King is back” thread I’m wary of wading in again but this sort of comment, sans wink, if indeed a wink was meant, are the things that get contributors of quality, well written and, for a segment of the blog readership, really interesting stuff, can prompt contributors to take their bat and ball and go home.
Like the DONOVAN references I always saw the Beano stuff as something of a running gag.
Moose the Mooche says
I love and miss Johnny/MW and I was on the original thread myself with some properly non-facetious contributions.
Point taken however.
Junior Wells says
Cheers Moose- blogs are hit and miss in conveying sentiment hence the wink suggestion.

Really enjoyed that. Listened at work and – looks over shoulder in case The Man is watching – stopped working to listen.
Haven’t bought a Kate Rusby album for years, the new one’s now in my basket.
More, please!

Just listened to Dave’s dulcet tones. Was surprised to hear Kate Miller Heidke and liked the choice. Some of her neo operatic stuff was a bit over the top. – a former opera singer I think.
Was surprised anyone knew outside Oz.
DogFacedBoy says
She supported Ben Folds on a couple of UK tours, I saw her a few times in London when she was in an opera.
By which I mean her playing her own stuff not me being at an opera. When I got a signed CD at the merch stand at that Folds gig she said I must have been the only person in the room to know who she was. But she probably says that to all the boys
Junior Wells says
She has had a few changes in style , but I really liked that one. Thanks for bringing to my attention.
