The most upsetting part of this is the picture. Taylor Swift FFS?
I must get out and buy that Gibson twin neck without further delay.

I knew Farage and Johnson hated music.

I suspect the pictures ed. noticed that Taylor has better pins than, I dunno, Jeff Beck. Got a dull story? Stick a picture of an attractive young lady in it.
Notice also at A-level results time how the media footage rarely features spotty long-haired young men.

As everyone knows, Taylor Rules. I’d far rather listen to her ‘playing’ that guitar than some bluesed-up bozo….

You’re not alone there.
There’s at least two of us on here…..

Three.

Yeah, me too. Fuck your Neil Youngs and Beatleses. Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber have an integrity to their music not seen the glory days of Jedward at their peak. The haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate; baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake.

You silly, twisted boys…

Actually, I’ve changed my mind. She’s reet crap.

Got my son a new guitar at GAK in Brighton recently. Got a deal on the day plus we were warned about potential price increases. Combined saving of around £80. On another note, I looked at the price of a new sound desk last week (Yamaha QL1) which is now nearly a grand more than when I looked pre referendum which means it has to be hired out an extra 10 times before it’s paid for.

I’m off to buy some more Naim hi-fi kit on Friday. The conversation with the GLW went something like:
“I have to dear, they’re putting their prices up by 10% on Jan 1st because of that awful Farrage chap.”
Because I want to has nothing – you hear, nothing – to do with it.

Steve, do tell what you’re upgrading from/to.

I’m re-purposing my Squeezebox Touch to the kitchen and replacing the Arcam DAC, 1980s preamp (with no remote control) & Sony DAB/FM tuner in the living room with an all-in-one Naim streaming preamp/DAC/tuner (NAC-N272) which the non-engineers in my family can use.
The new beastie lacks a built-in preamp for my Linn gramophone, or the power supply for an external one, so the box count doesn’t go down much, but most get a lot smaller.
And the GLW is requesting new furniture for it to stand upon, rather than the 1980s black-sprayed steel rack (which, I must concede, is plain ugly). So a walnut rack to match my PMC floorstanding speakers.
Having a friend with a hi-fi shop is a dangerous business. I won’t be replacing my car for a good while longer.
Declan says
Well, had to google it as I know little about streamers. But a snip at 4-and-a-half thousand Euros. And no phono input from these ex-analogue stalwarts, irony, much?

I must have bought more than 30 guitars over the years but have never been tempted to buy a spanking new one. Some things are just better with a few miles on the clock aren’t they?

You’ve inadvertently posted in The Afterword. Your dating website is open in the other window ↗️😀

Ah, that might explain the otherwise quite extraordinary lack of response on that other site.

“If it’s not made in Nashville it’s not a Gibson”. Apart from all the custom shop and semi-hollows made in Memphis. And all the Gibsons made in the 50s and 60s at Kalamazoo.
Btw, if you were wondering why new Les Pauls are so average , check out this video tour of the Gibson factory. Nary a craftsman in sight!

And the Gibson acoustics are made in Bozeman, Montana
