A sad anniversary.
It was 50 years ago today that the great Swedish jazz pianist, composer and arranger, Jan Johansson, died in a car crash on his way to a gig in Jönköping.
His magnificent Jazz på Svenska, (just him and bassist Georg Riedel reworking Swedish folk songs), is the best-selling Swedish jazz record of all time. And quite rightly so.
I just discovered that he is buried in Skogskyrkogården which is 10 minutes walk away for me. Maybe I will go down and pay him and Greta Garbo my respects later today.
