I agree with Dai. I was a fair-weather Abba observer with a few singles and a Reader’s Digest best of CD, until I saw Bjorn Again. I saw BA (original lineup) 52 times in my first year and every gig was a blast.
Apart from anything else, what will a holographic ‘Frida’ do when I throw my Y-fronts onstage?
You’d be surprised how cheap you can buy massive (XXXL) white Y-fronts at your local market stall. They’re big enough to write your setlist request in sharpie, in a point size big enough to be seen by the whole audience. And they have enough momentum to sail over the heads of the security crew onto the stage. I once landed a pair on Frida Longstokin’s head – the whole band laughed, and launched into the requested ‘Rock Me’.
Happy days.
I don’t think this approach to requests would have gone down so well with, say, Lou Reed.
I’ve seen Bjorn Again too you know. At the Hacienda no less so stick that up yer fundament. Was very good too. I probably wouldn’t go and see the Holograms but ABBA were my first love so interested in the new songs. Just hope they don’t let themselves down.
I am very happy that a Beatles thread has been taken over by Bjorn Again comments and think we should have more of this.
I feel like going over to the Let it Be thread and starting a conversation on ABBA – The Movie. If you watch that, you’ll realise why Bjorn Again are so good – it’s because ABBA were the best live band in the world.
This is possibly bad form but all this ABBA talk has reminded me of this post on “The Day Before You Came”. 104 comments discussing the meaning of an obscure ABBA song. Only The Afterword…
I’m surprised that it hasn’t been noted that Abba Gold recently passed the milestone of spending over 1000 weeks on the UK album charts – longer even than Rumours, Queen’s Greatest Hits and Legend. Pretty remarkable when you consider it came out quite a bit later than any of them.
Bjorn Again’s winter tour dates are out this morning, tickets on sale Friday.

This has been teased for a number of years.
Hologram tours not for me, if I want a dose of “Abba” live I go see Bjorn Again. Best fun you can have without removing your clothes
It would appear that Fenton has done both.
Cue @fentonsteve

Holographic Y Fronts? This is turning into a episode of Red Dwarf.
Benny has aged gracefully and does what he enjoys.
Part of the ABBA experience was their preposterous clothes and there is no way he’d wear anything like that any more.
So holograms of the fab four as their younger selves makes a lot of sense.
But nothing for me.
Hmmm. A young Donovan perhaps? He did invent holograms after all,

Arf!
No preposterous clothes, you say? Hold my beer.

Look, none of you are taking this seriously!
Sorry, Sir.
Repeated exposure to Bjorn Again has left me less NME-inky, more Strictly-glitterbally…
I am. I am I am I am I am I am.

That’s a great thread. Everybody doing “what they do”, it’s like The Afterword on 45.
ABBA threads are always great…

Legend not far behind though… and the Foo Fighters are nearly half-way, to give ’em credit.

Wasn’t expecting a new album! First listen to the two released tracks (too soon to properly assess) suggests this might just be a worthwhile project…
