Only 17/30 for me (I fell down on the 21st Century Questions).
Will post the answers in a couple of days time (assuming there is a need)
Without seeing the answers, I’m confident on 20
(similar blindspot timeline)
As mentioned, I will post the answers in a few days time to give folks a chance to try, but if anyone wants the answers beforehand then message me and I will send privately.
A disappointing 17/30 (as I have access over the paywall.)
Point of order: Sandy Shaw’s debut was a flop.
I don’t read the question as saying her debut single was number 1, although now I can see how someone might. As a veteran of several ambiguity-based quiz fights, this is not ideal..
It should substitute the word “first” for the word “debut”.
Without checking the answers I think I would get about 21-22 more or less definitely and guess the rest
A decidedly meh 18/30 for me – as with Retro and Rigid, it was the new stuff where I fell down most badly
I go to the local hotel on Sundays – £3 coffee to read £12 worth of papers – and I got five out of five without looking at the options.
No problem. 100%. Made up. Didn’t bother with the post-60s questions.
Why no Rock ‘n’ Roll?
I think I definitely maybe have 21, with the rest being guesswork.
19. I tailed off until Christmas arrived.
And the answers……

The quiz seemed much easier in its revised format and I upped my score from 18 to 22
By “revised format” do you mean the one above your comment? The one with the answers provided? I got 30 out of 30 in the format with the answers provided. Seeing the answers written down helped me enormously. I’m surprised you still managed to get 8 wrong.
The Casualty question did for me. And 10 other ones.
29/30 – got the Shirley Bassey one wrong.
19 for me.
The perfect score – it suggests a fine level of knowledge whilst not knowing too much about music that it is, frankly, not cool enough to know about. Obviously, if you got the Casualty and Bernie Flint questions right on the other hand…..
I got the Casualy question right – does that make me half cool ? That said, I like Genesis, so I guess all bets are off.
Half cool. I, obviously got it wrong. But I did know the Bernie Flint one.
I did get the Casualty one right. I actually thought Bernie Flint had no hit singles, despite being on ITV children’s TV absolutely all the time (see also Flintlock).
I remember Bernie Flint as a mainstay of Opportunity Knocks (sincerely).
I have just goggled Flintlock/Tomorrow People as I have a vague recollection that the drummer was in TP. Turns out he (Mike Holloway) is still performing – and was Joseph at the Camberley Theatre last year. This has cheered me up for some reason.
Poor Mike will be forever associated with one of *the* golden TV moments of the last century…
19, I agree, is a perfectly reasonable score. Especially if 16 of them came in the first twenty questions.
22. I was confident on 21 before the answers were posted. I’m obviously a crap guesser.
Don’t know about you, I’m feeling 22-ooh-ooh!
Now seen the answers and for once my confidence wasn’t misplaced (unlike my childhood – spot the reference?).
20 it was – and with a bit of lucky guessing, it might’ve got to 23 or 24.
Bernie Flint – wasn’t he on Crackerjack with Peter Glaze?
Easy mistake.
Bernie Flint: handsome pencil-tached proto-Eddie Shoestring
Bernie Clifton: bloke with brightly coloured ostrich up his jacksie
@sewer-robot
I think you may be getting Bernie Clifton confused with Frank Bough
17. And half of those were guesses.
Berni Flint.
There’s a name I haven’t heard since my mum stopped playing the album in 1977.
Up to that point, the handsome, moustachioed, denim shirt wearing, crooning strummer was on every day.
I got that one.
