Tis true, it’s a stonker of a list and the anticipation would be huge, waiting in the arena. But how was the show? Too big, too distant and, probably, too polished, I guess Now if they were to play the same show at the O2 academy in Brum, heck, I’d sell my girlfriend.
Try as I might, I can’t imagine a scenario where it wouldn’t be (a) long, (b) boring, (c) uncomfortable, (d) difficult to get to and from, (e) expensive, and (f) shared with a crowd who are shoe-horning it in between similar events by Madonna, Elton John and Fleetwood Mac.
Jagger admitted in a 1972 interview that the Stones were, to all intents and purposes, ‘hanging up the cue’. It was quoted in that sleeve-note series that Q put out in about 1990 (remember them?).
And so they did. It’s a bit like voting for Margaret Thatcher, you can’t say he didn’t warn you!
and they *were* out plugging the new album – the Ronniecount was up to 8 there – 1/3 of the show.
Anyway, I think we’re largely in agreement – if you’ve seen them in the last 10 years, and you’re offered the chance to seem them again, you’ll be getting the same show now…
Why the need for reminders that Keith will be singing on You’ve Got The Silver and Happy? Plus Happy will be in B Flat? Is it usually in a different key?
Is there a song out there that has been mis-spelt more times than ‘Honky Tonk Women’?
I reckon it’s one ‘woman’ for every one ‘women’.
It’s ‘WOMEN’.
Nice to see plenty of Bigger Bang, Bridges to Babylon, Voodoo Lounge classics on there…
…er…
Yeah, yeah, enjoy a good sneer. And then tell me about all those other bands with a similarly rich back catalogue of major hits to draw from!

Sneer….The Church!
Each to his own.
Takes all sorts.
One man’s wine is another man’s poison.
OOAA.
Several hundred pounds to attain entry to a Stones concert c. 2016?
Only if the substantial wad is residing in my back pocket.
Oh absolutely in accord with you there, old bean. Wouldn’t cough up five bob to see the blighters these days.
I’m in full accordance with you, H.P.

I wondered why they need a wheelchair for the encores…..
Brilliant!!
She’s a Rainbow is pretty rare. A Bowie tribute would have been nice but maybe that was LSTNT.
nyes…i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again – only 2 of the songs there were recorded while Ronnie Wood was a member of the band…

which was a great line, except it wasn’t really true… ‘cos here’s a setlist from the first time i saw them…

Hold on… Out Of Control? What’s that doing in there when Under My Thumb is missing?
