The popular press in the UK is all of a tizzy over the release of some private letters old Jug Ears wrote ten years ago. What do they contain? Well read on….
1) Plans to relaunch Hubba Bubba fizzy pop drink from the 90’s with ad campaign using a holographic Michael Bentine
2) His wish to have a statue of Camilla opposite the Diana fountain \ waterslide giving it the finger.
3) To make Duchy Original Biscuits the national dish by 2020.
4) Automatic euthanasia for any female monarchs over 80
5) Madame Tussauds to melt down everything to create a huge diorama of The Three Degrees

Perhaps this is (slightly) out of place on this thread, so apologies in advance, but this is something I feel very strongly about – WTF/ why are all those medals on his youngest brothers chest?
Wanker of the Highest Order?
Pilot test of resistance of the over-80s to C-diff, MRSA, Hep C, Ebola and the AIDS virus (to be conducted in a very small population sample in the area of The Mall).
The actual letters are underwhelming and quite mild. If anything he has benefitted from them coming to light rather than have speculation of what unreasonable political demands they might contain. Guardian has probably done him a favour. Sorry for the serious intervention. Please carry on with the pissing about.
I know, right? Of all the things the flippin’ Grauniad could’ve been suing the Government for under FOI, for ten flippin’ years. Oh well. Their money, I suppose.
Man who otherwise has bugger all to do all day but wait for his Mum to die, has opinions on many things and writes to people with power about them, getting crappy replies patronising him.
But enough about the plight of carers in Cameron’s Britain, eh readers….
I know! I be they couldn’t believe how little was contained in them.
Actually the Government has spent approx. four hundred thousand pounds are preventing publication – that’s our money. And, following the supreme court’s ruling in the Guardian’s favour, has since been ordered to make an interim payment of one hundred and fifty thousand pounds towards the Guardian’s costs. That’s our money as well.
Farming Today on Radio 4 this morning covered this story. They saw the letters as a good thing, covering ( so they said) pretty technical issues such as the failure of the RPA, woes of upland farmers, TB/badgers and the like.
Badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger SAVE THE BADGERS!
FWIW I am impressed and encouraged by HRHs excellent grasp of agricultural and general rural matters, while disagreeing with some specific aspects of the way the Duchy treats some of its own tenants. In any case, I believe it’s advantageous to have someone as well informed as Charles in his a position of some influence (irrespective of his total lack of a democratic mandate), as he provides a long-term voice for elements of our national fabric that are often ignored by the metropolitan elite who run the place. The lack of any real understanding of the critical importance of these elements of our economic ecology and wider society is often visible in the glib dismissive hilarity that his interest in these matters attracts. See above.
As far as I know, the law was changed so that any letters he wrote after 2011 can’t be published. But the Supreme Court’s ruling means that letters written before then can be requested under FOI – that means by anybody, not just The Guardian, and you don’t have to explain the reason for your request. So I suppose if you were interested in the fox hunting ban, for example, you could ask for letters written that relate to that. They would probably still as dull as the ones that have been appeared so far – though the published ones do show how brilliant and accurate the parodies in Private Eye have been.
Actually, I think I may be wrong on the legal point, so don’t go to court on the basis of it (this is generally good advice about stuff you read on the Internet).
Expect the FOI legislation to be repealed/emasculated by this new shower within a year or so anyway.
Oh yah yah, both my sons fly helecopters for the military yah. Can we just focus on the helicopters yah. I mean how does one get abite between one’s hises if one cant get ones orfspring trained at taxpayers expense to fly helicopters yah
