There’s a lot of unseen Afterword maintenance work that goes on while you’re asleep.
From my near-Antarctic location, and to put this into language the layperson can understand, I test the site’s cyber-water each day using coding and algorithms and stuff like that. Most days, at the end of the process, the waters are calm and deliver a neutral chemical balance test result. So much so, I am often left wondering why the mods pay me all this money!
However, this morning I sat down at the computer, took a sip of tea, waggled my little stick and expected nothing much. But Lo! The colour has changed from its usual soothing shade of aqua marine blue to an angry red! My screen is a mess, as you can imagine (because I spat out my tea in surprise).
There have been terse exchanges, cussing, raised eyebrows and at least one flounce all in one tempestuous 24 hour period.
“I cannae hold it, Captain!” I shouted down the hallway in my best Scotty voice. I heard nothing back so I shouted it again – louder this time. Then I remembered I was alone in the house. Fathers Day too.
So – what can I do about this? I know exactly what I can do. Promote peace and love by curating a thread that deals with just that, peace and love. Hey! What if, right, instead of having war and conflict as our “most commented” or “most viewed” threads – we had peace and love as our headlines instead? Imagine.
So let’s get the balance right! I am laying down a gauntlet (made of flowers!) that challenges you to post or discuss items that can only spread peace, love positive vibes and sunny days.
The “Hey Jude!” hitmakers are eternally valid and leaders in this field and they are of course very welcome. But let’s see if we can surprise each other with songs that promote peace and love as a concept.
Perhaps Shalamar doesn’t immediately spring to mind. But here they are singing about friendship generally. Now that’s what I call peace and love!
