Little Richard is fundamental. Documentary on Channel 4.
I would have posted a link to the Channel 4 website – but their website is a binfire.

ATM: I received a free two month trial of a VPN thrown in when I resubbed my computer security thingie*, but I haven’t activated it yet, because I suspect that using a VPN means that I’ll have to log in everywhere all of the time (or turn off the VPN). I’m too lazy (and have way too complicated passwords) for that…so tell me; is my logic correct, or are there no such extra work attached to the use of a VPN?
I’m not sure why I ought to use one anyway, other than being able to watch blocked videos etc, so if anyone can convince me why it’s a good idea, I’d appreciate it. Otherwise I’ll just ignore that offer.
*technical term
I really only use it to watch BBC stuff, and mine (ExpressVPN) works for that most of the time. Doesn’t make any difference to my logins, certainly doesn’t trigger password requests. Oddly enough the Afterword sometimes refuses to load if I’ve forgotten to turn the VPN off, although why that should be when I’m apparently in the UK I’ve no idea.
You can stay logged into the site indefinitely if the IP address you’re using stays the same but I think if you connect from a different IP address from the usual one, the site requires you to log in again. I have had this happen when logging in on my phone while out at the pub.
Sometimes, after a major Windows Update or a clearout of browser cookies, you will need to log in again. Sometimes, for mysterious reasons, you just can’t connect fast enough to the site and your browser will time out.
If you are still logged in on one device, trying to log in to the same account on another device too will fail.
Ah, that explains it (although it doesn’t always happen). Fortunately I live in a major Windows Update-free world, but clearing cookies is a pain in the bum as far as passwords are concerned.
Another vote for express VPN here. Worth it for the BBC iPlayer alone and very little hassle involved
