This summer sees a new exhibition charting the history of The Jam with accompanying new CD compilation and a limited edition book examining the band’s lasting influence.’The Jam: About The Young Idea’ – will open at London’s Somerset House on 26th June and will be packed with items hand picked from The Jam Archive.

I always loved this version of Boy About Town (reminded of it cos I noticed the double album ends with Pop Art Poem from the same flexidisc)
FlexiPop! Or was it Smash Hits? Difficult to understand now exciting these were. I had one with XTC’s Ten Feet Tall… and a blue one with something by Nash the Slash.

Aye – and iirc it was Mark Manning, soon to be Zodiac Mindwarp no less, who was responsible for most of the look of Flexipop.

There was also a Christmas special flexi in conjunction with Levis jeans.
Double sided and featured various seasonal greetings from The Police,Boring Bob Grover of The Pirhanas and ended with Musical Youth so must’ve been Christmas 82
Still got them somewhere in the collection
Ahhh, the Musical Youth – mention of which causes many a middle-aged Englishman to peer ruefully into the distance and intone the mystical words, “Ba-diddley-diddley-diddley bong”
I think the Levis flexi was a Smash Hits freebie – launching Black Levis. I seem to recall a chirpy Paul Weller saying Hi to Martin Fry and Nick Heyward before wishing us the compliments of the season.

I had a flexi-disc of Joy Division’s “Komakino”, which was, like, given away at record shops or something.
It wasn’t exactly Joy Division’s greatest song.

I always had a soft spot for the music of John Foxx, and I loved this yellow flexi back in the day. It’s lost some of its appeal now, I feat, but I was only 12 at the time:
