I’m sure the presenters on a festival jolly are having a whale of a time. I’m sure the punters that saw Mogwai last night really did enjoy themselves but ironically it seems to me that as soon as the 6Music Festival started, there seems to be far far more talk on the station. There’s normally far more talk for a station with Music in their name than I would like but it’s gone a bit overboard this weekend. Of course it may be that it’s just particularly boring talk and there’s not actually any more of it at all! If that’s the case, then I apologise!
The Irony of the 6Music “Music” Festival
Must admit I got heartily fed up of hearing about this “festival” about three weeks ago while they overtrailed it and overtrailed it with both LL and MAH being the worst culprits trying to make a few gigs on Tyneside into some kind of mystical and life-changing experience. Even RadMac got dragged in and succumbed to the 3-line whip. Be glad when it’s over and we can go back to normal Cerys, Garvey, Huey and Keaveny – although I suspect we’ll be “reliving the magic” for a few more weeks to come.
I detest the 6Music trailers. If I have to hear one more DJ banging on about how much they love music, how diverse their tastes are and how ‘alternative’ the station is, I’ll head butt the radio.
Mind you, whatever the irritations, it did feature the tremendous Kate Tempest and Eliza Carthy team-up
6 Music is run by blokey British/90’s obsessed types – can’t put my finger on why, but apart from the Freak Zone, it leaves me cold.
Why can’t it be more like All Songs or KCRW?
