The documentary about The Immediate Family – Danny Korchmar, Leland Sklar, Russ Kunkle, Waddy and Steve Postell has popped up on Netflix. I loved it. Essential viewing for any fans of the West Coast/Laurel Canyon world!

Thank you, @Twang! That was great.
Glad you enjoyed it Nige!
I’ll watch it later. Thsnks
Certainly on for @niallb ‘s ‘to watch’ list.
I was lucky enough to be at the showing at the Riverside Studios where Heppo interviewed Lee Sklar.
Lucky lad!
Thanks for that.
On the list for later on. 👍
Will be watching later. Thanks for posting.
I saw it at the Crouch End ArtHouse where David Hepworth interviewed director Denny Tedesco.
It’s pretty good, though I do have a reservation in that all music they were involved with is treated as being equally excellent.
Yet, for one example, they contributed to Neil Young’s Landing On Water which is among Young’s very worst albums. Yet there is not the least suggestion that this album might be lacking in any way whatsoever.
I’m sure the playing was great but the ideas sounded odd in the programme. Neil seemed happy enough. I dislike that 80s sound whoever it is though.
@carl landing on Water is totally awful. Gifted to me by an old colleague. Played once and discarded.
I keep on expecting this to be about the Immediate record label, here in the UK, Andrew Loog-Oldham’s other project.
Not just me then …
I need to watch this, if only to answer the puzzle: who on earth is Steve Postell? I’ve never noticed him before until this film, but the other guys were on a huge list of records that I really love.
They explain it. He’s a later session player and mate/disciple of DK who I think does a lot of the band organisation leg work.
I haven’t got round to watching it yet, but I hope they cover The Section. The band included Danny Kortchmar, Craig Doerge, Russ Kunkel and Leland Sklar. They made two albums in 1972 and 1977 which are both hugely enjoyable. My copies are a touch scratchy by now.
They do! I was pleased too.
I just realised this is on YouTube and I said Netflix. Doh!
