Regulars around her will know that I’ve been involved in helping the Hardchargers – Irish blues sensations from the Ballyclare delta – towards a nationally released album. There have been a few bumps in the road – an inconvenient hellhound has been on the chaps’ trail this year in one form or another – but the album, ‘Scarecrow’, is but a Pledge Music campaign away from being pressed and will be released through Market Square Records (digital and physical) on November 17.
The Pledge campaign will start today -as soon as Lonesome Chris Todd has figured out how one sets a time limit on it. That’s no slight on Lonesome Chris – but on Pledge Music, which seems to have made that aspect of the page construction impossible to find. Maybe that’s the last bark of the hellhound…

Thought I’d give this a bump in case any whjo might enjoy it missed it.
Have to say, Pledge Music are a big let down: the campaign has been ready to go for days – all the content uploaded and uncontroversial (video, bio, rewards…) – but it still isn’t visible to the world/still in quarantine for Pledge to sign off on for whatever reason, and yet the clock is ticking down. Their 30 days are now at 26 and literally no one (bar the creator of the page) can see or access the page. Very disappointing. If Pledge don’t sort it out tomorrow, I’ll have to spend time creating a Kickstarter campaign instead.
I’m sensing that no one here is remotely interested in the Hardchargers, but just in case someone is… the chaps began a Kickstarter campaign earlier today, having always sought to pay their own way, etc.
A set of circumstances this year has meant their gigging has been a fraction of what it normally is so I’m delighted that they accepted that pre-selling copies of a finished (but needing manufactured) was okay – and I’m delighted that their pragmatism has been rewarded. After half a day the target is nearly met – heartwarming stuff!
If you’re half interested in blues, check out the album sampler above, and the Kickstarter link here:

They’re not really my cuppa, but they have an outstanding name.
I’ll pass the link on to a few folk I know who might like them.
Good luck with it all!
Thanks, Bing – appreciated! It really is nice to see the chaps getting SUCH a good, immediate response to the KS. Morale gets affected when you’re off the road and when things appear to be going wrong left, right and centre. They deserved this shot in the arm. Their luck had to change…
Last shout-out on the offchance that any blueswailing Afterworders missed this. Two days or thereabouts to go – and the chaps have done very well thus far, getting beyond the target for essential funds (to press the record). Anything over/above will not be wasted:
