…and sold 50+ million copies.
Today’s episode of my blog about London recording studios is the 4th and final part of the story of EMI Studios at No.3 Abbey Road. The tale includes the end of The Beatles, a fleeting visit by Fela Kuti and the story of Dark Side of the Moon.
What a fab summary of the place where a lot of the music that means the most to me was born, wrangled, planned, performed, plotted and produced. Magnificent. Bravo Niall!
Thanks.π
Thanks Niall. Especially loved the stuff on Fela. Saw him at Brixton Academy and was driving back to San Fran to see him again when I heard on the car radio he had been arrested at the airport. Damn.
I knew very little about him but loved the research. Thanks π
Disappointingly, Fela’s John Peel session tapes were lost. Fellow Nigerian band the Funkees’ session can still be heard.
I presume the recordings resulted in the Fela’s London Scene album.
Marvellous, as per.
Thanks.
