What on earth happened in 2025? Normally, when I reveal my favourite Reissues and Archival Recordings of the Year, there’s a plump, juicy list of 25 or even 30 fabulous old albums to consider. This year, there are only twelve. Either a) there just weren’t many decent reissues released this year, or b) there were plenty of decent reissues – it’s just that I didn’t hear many of them. Indeed, even amongst the 12 albums on this list, it’s only really the top three or four to which I can give an unequivocal “Buy” recommendation. A disappointing state of affairs.
