Robert Smith seems unusual among elder rockstars in singing as good as ever. He is now singing Lovesong. High quality from him and the band. Someone who has maintained a certain dignity in his actions, despite appearances you could say. Hello. Is anybody there?
What A lyric: And I’m outside in the dark staring at the blood red moon
Remembering the hopes and dreams I had and all I had to do
And wondering what became of that boy and the world he called his own
I’m outside in the dark wondering how I got so old
There’s also a radio 6 session from the same venue but without an audience. I find myself in Norfolk without access to get_iplayer until Monday. Any chance that Foxy Archive Services could grab them both? I did not realise they would be pulled so quickly.
I confess the opening number, already familiar from all the publicity and promos (and my own copy, which arrived yesterday) had me weeping.
What price AW album of the year? It could well be mine.
I was going to delay that thought until I had heard Willie Nelson’s 76th release, Last Leaf On The Tree. Unfortunately, even the overwhelming wish it be great, it isn’t, and he crucifies Broken Arrow, IMHO, an expected high point.
On the subject of end or year rankings and elderly performers, anyone hanging out for Marshall Allen’s debut solo album, due out 29/11/24. He recorded it in the days following his 100th birthday.
Watching the Radio2 In Concert show on BBC now. I don’t usually watch live TV, but there’s a full evening of The Cure tonight. Agree on his voice, still sounds great as always.
Will take on the Glastonbury set later – I was there for that one, great time.

This is great. What a setlist!
Thanks for the heads up. As good as ever though they all look so old.
I find myself saying that more and more. They all look so old, all those stars I grew up with. It happens so fast.
Is this the same show that’s on BBC tomorrow night?
Nope. It was a longer set, and although it was mainly made up of the same songs from the two BBC sets it was well worth the watch.
Love this – The Cure live session is now on iPlayer, but only until 10:15 tonight, a Saturday.

My pleasure. PM incoming.
@fentonsteve – see your PMs – I need an email address to send to.
Belay that – I have a link – I’ll PM it to you.
@fentonsteve – link now sent in PM.
Do let me know if/when the download works OK – it’s 5Gb all told!
I have their most recent Glastonbury headline set in the get_iPlayer archive if anyone needs help with a safety copy.

3 hours long from now to way back then with Boys Don’t Cry. Time travel. It may disappear at some point I guess.

Just watched both BBC sets.
Very nice but to me very repetitive. I liked the 1980s hits as a student and have a greatest hits album from the 1990s but I found it all a bit dull.

This looks really good – The Cure’s ten BBC sessions presented in order. I only have these in off-air bootleg quality.

Overseas AWers, PM me for ‘help’.
Hear that little chuntering sound? That’s my iPlayer drive, that is. It’s being cured.
