No, not a prediction – I’m no hunchback – just something I’m loving right now and think you might too.
“The Comet Is Coming are a London-based band who incorporate elements of Jazz, Electronica, Funk and Psychedelic Rock”, and, for once, the blurb is actually spot on.

Judging by your mix CD we have a similar taste. I bought their first album last month and have been playing it frequently. I have their new album on pre order and having heard one track cant wait
Fantastic and with Sons of Kemet tie up the future of British jazz is very vibrant.
Enjoyed that. Also enjoyed a track of theirs that @Wilson-Wilson put on his space-themed swap CD last time. A band to watch.
Cheers Mike! Channel the Spirits was a great album, and this new song is pretty good too. Just realised they’re playing in Glasgow tonight, but I’m not going to make it. Gah.
Can I please sound a negative note on Sons Of Kemet? I tried but i can’t get past that Tuba
However can I recommend this album from the Scandi-Supergroup Rymden?
Ah well. It’s the tuba I love the most. I presume you won’t be interested in his solo album.
Fyah – Activate
I think tuba denial is probably a mind set, an unconscious conditioned fear, like I used to have for the trumpet. My tuba breakthrough was via The Barely Works:
Tigger has it for banjo, sadly. And, I believe, melodeon. I don’t think the tuba and the ‘bone will lift the track above for him.
Fear of Trumpet…. worryingly specific working title for the third Talking Heads album.
The last band I saw play a hammered dulcimer, at least until I saw Cambridge indie band Tape Runs Out last September (nearly 30 years later).
It all starts with the trombone. It’s psychological – growing up my older brother played trombone. Obsessively. I had to travel the country to concerts. I’m scarred.
On the “New Wave of British Jazz” I’ve been enjoying Ruby Rushton
Talking of, Green Man has Sons of Kemet, Ezra Collective and The Comet is Coming.
Along with Eels, RT and loads of other stuff to appeal.
Anyone thinking of going?
I am going to Green Man and End Of The Road two weeks after.
Been going to EOTR since 2010, but am a relatively recent convert to GM (my third). Looking forward to both.
